A long history of enlightenment in Gloucestershire.

There is no firm evidence on when the first Mind Body Spirit event was held in Gloucestershire. The earliest reference we can find is an advertisement in Prediction magazine for the Gloucestershire New Age Fair on Saturday 11th June 1994! We believe that event transformed into the Natural Living Show during the nineties, after which it passed into our custody in 2003.

In the early days this subject was brand new. Reflexology, Tai Chi and personal development were utterly outside the mainstream fifteen or twenty years ago. And nowadays while some regular folk would still baulk at having a psychic or divinatory reading, it is not the taboo it once was. There is indeed an explosion of consciousness.

But where now for Mind Body Spirit events in a time where everyone seems to know a psychic reader, where hairdressers and nail bars offer holistic treatments, and where Waterstone’s holistic section is as big as its politics section?

The future lies in personal empowerment – providing you with tools and strategies that enable you to discern and to judge what is best for you.

The future lies in embracing alternatives. If you can access so much within mainstream culture then events such as this must go that bit further and provide you with cutting edge thought and left-field ideas.

The future lies in professionalism and high standards. Where anyone can attend a couple of courses and anoint themselves a ‘master’, it is incumbent on us to try to sift the genuine and knowledgeable from the well meaning but unqualified.

2010 begins a new direction, and a new life for this annual event. My trips to San Francisco showed me how much is yet to be done in this field, and this is where we start.

We hope you will enjoy the new content on show this year and go away empowered, informed, uplifted and enlightened.

Kind regards

Richard, Hannah and the team.
