Key Learning Outcomes
Learners will:
- Understand the core values, principles and foundations of community development, including types of communities and the benefits of involvement
- Explore how to gather meaningful information about a community, including methods, key data and the importance of community voice
- Learn the key features of Asset‑Based Community Development (ABCD) and Participatory Action Research (PAR), and how they support community‑led change
- Examine how relationships, power and lived experience influence participation, including barriers and practical steps to increase involvement
- Understand how teamwork, collaboration and community networks support effective community development and shared goals
- Strengthen awareness of equity, diversity and inclusion, including discrimination, inclusive practices and anti‑oppressive approaches in community work
